DESCRIPTION:The World’s Room is a home for traditional singing in Edinburgh\, organised by the Traditional Music Forum and held in the Waverley Bar\, St Mary’s Street. \nFor singers and lovers of Scots song Sheena Wellington will need no introduction. From a family of factory weavers and many singers\, Scots song is in Sheena’s blood. Her repertoire covers everything from Burns to ballads to the best of contemporary songwriting (including one or two of her own\, like ‘The Dundee Women’ and her tribute to the city’s journalistic output.) She has performed throughout the British Isles\, and in Europe\, North America and the Far East and recorded four solo albums. A passionate\, articulate advocate for traditional music\, Sheena was a leading light throughout the 90s and the 00s in the fight for recognition\, status and improved funding for Scotland’s traditional arts.
