Tues 23 Sept | 8pm | Online
Do you want to learn Scots Songs online this European Folk Day?
To celebrate European Folk Day, award-winning Scottish folksinger Iona Fyfe will be hosting an online Scots Song Workshop on 23rd September at 20:00 BST. The workshop is open to people of all ages and abilities from all over the world. No fluency in Scots is required and all resources will be sent to you.
We will learn 3-4 folksongs in the Scots language and will do some listening of source, revivalist and contemporary interpretations of the songs. Lyrics will be provided in PDF format via email. The Zoom link and resources will be sent to the email you sign up with.
This year, Scots became an official language of Scotland with the passing of the Scots Language Act as part of the Scottish Languages Bill (2025).
