Hogmanay is going virtual this year, and you can see in 2021 with some of Scotland’s top young trad musicians!

We’re launching the TMSA Young Trad Tour concert video at 6pm on 31 December. The Young Traddies came together in late September to record a one-off live performance of their highly acclaimed studio album at Adelaide’s Church in Glasgow, in-line with Covid-19 guidelines at the time.

The current TMSA Young Trad Tour group comprises of Benedict Morris (fiddle), winner of the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year Competition, joined by finalists: Cameron Ross (fiddle), Catherine Tinney (song), Luc McNally (guitar/vocals), Ross Miller (bagpipes), Sarah Markey (flute) and Hannah Rarity (song—2018 winner).

Viewers will be treated to tracks from the album, a mix of new material written and composed by these outstanding young musicians as well as innovative arrangements of traditional tunes. The concert film will be available on the TMSA social media channels, https://www.facebook.com/TMSAScotland and the TMSAScotland channel on YouTube – direct link: https://youtu.be/zK1hWqitLpw (this may be different from the direct link previously supplied due to a technical hitch!) or the TMSAScotland channel can be found at: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXqHftMa7JZ1L6pKSchkoUg – with the performance available to watch at any time after it premieres.

The young musicians also recorded workshops based on a song or tune featured in the concert, which will be released one by one over two weeks following the premiere, so keep an eye out for these too!
