Bothy Ballads and Burns Night with Folk at the Salmon Bothy
Portsoy-based Folk at the Salmon Bothy will kick off their 2022 live events calendar with a Bothy Ballads and Burns night on Saturday 19 February at Portsoy Bowling Club from 6.30pm. For the first time, the event will be hosted by one family—the local and very talented Lennoxes! Inverness Music Festival is 100 years old! After holding a successful online festival in 2021 the organisers are set to hold a blended festival this year, with some classes online and some classes live at Merkinch Community, with all the usual COVID mitigations in place to keep everyone safe. The traditional music section will be held on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th February live, whilst all video performances must be submitted by the end of January.

The SFO plays original arrangements of traditional Scottish fiddle music, plus more recent orchestral compositions. Concerts usually involve around 100 performers including pipers, dancers and singers.

Seachdain na Gàidhlig will be the first official Gaelic language and culture week to be held in Scotland. Similar to Seachdain na Gaeilge in Ireland and Mìos nan Gàidheal in Cape Breton, the week aims to promote Gaelic for all, with official events and community initiatives.
