Fringe by the Sea in North Berwick
Fringe By The Sea, Scotland’s freshest festival which has been held in North Berwick since 2008, is returning this year with live audiences being entertained in Covid-secure environments. The Piping Live! festival is back for 2021 with a nine-day event promising world-class performances, music sessions, recitals, competitions, book launches, workshops and much more. Taking place between August 7–15, the annual festival has confirmed they will present their programme online, in response to current government guidelines. However, if restrictions allow the team will do all they can to introduce a live audience element to the festival if this proves possible under renewed guidelines closer to the event.

A small gathering of cross-generational artists exchange songs, stories and histories. Celebrating 70 years of the School of Scottish Studies and Archives. Three artists share their favourite songs, how they came to sing them, the story behind each song and how their interpretation evolved. Features performances from Nancy Nicolson (Scots song and story), Josie Duncan (Scots, Gaelic and original song) and Arthur Cormack (Gaelic song).

Fringe Ceilidhs are running in Lauriston Hall through August, with caller Ken Gourlay and ceilidh band. All dances walked through and called. Fringe groups welcome! Hall has air-conditioning and bar.
