Piping Live! is back for 2021 with a nine-day festival packed full of world-class performances, music sessions, recitals, competitions, book launches, workshops and so much more. A small gathering of cross-generational artists exchange songs, stories and histories. Celebrating 70 years of the School of Scottish Studies and Archives. Three artists share their favourite songs, how they came to sing them, the story behind each song and how their interpretation evolved. Features performances from Nancy Nicolson (Scots song and story), Josie Duncan (Scots, Gaelic and original song) and Arthur Cormack (Gaelic song).

Fringe Ceilidhs are running in Lauriston Hall through August, with caller Ken Gourlay and ceilidh band. All dances walked through and called. Fringe groups welcome! Hall has air-conditioning and bar.

Edinburgh's Acoustic Music Centre is presenting a programme of folk events in the Ukrainian Community Centre from Tuesday 17 to Saturday 21 August as part of the 2021 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. AMC @ UCC is running 10 shows (two each evening) including BrÒg, Ian Bruce, The Quiggs, Savourna Stevenson and Steve Kettley, Tim Edey, Mairi Campbell, Maggie MacInnes and, of course, North Sea Gas.
