Newcastleton Music Festival
Since its beginning in 1970, the Newcastleton (Traditional) Music Festival has provided a space for musicians, singers, poets and storytellers to come and share their love of traditional culture - complete without the brilliant and ancient Copshaw Common Riding. Tinto Summer School is a much-loved 5-day residential schools in traditional music for high school age (11-17) participants. The school takes place at Wiston Lodge, a beautiful Victorian former hunting lodge in the peaceful rural heart of South Lanarkshire. scotchhopcommittee@gmail.com Linlithgow Scotch Hop is Scottish Dancing for all. Everyone is welcome, and all dances are called (described while dancing) or demonstrated (before each dance starts). There is no alcohol or bar, but water and juice is served all evening, with shortbread at the interval.
