TMSA Young Trad Tour
The Tour takes the young musicians back to their home towns as well as other parts of Scotland so they can inspire others and thank their communities for the support they have had over the years.
The expected participants of TYTT 2021 are: Winner of the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year Michael Biggins, Newcastle (Piano); and finalists: Iona Fyfe, Huntly (Voice); Ellie Beaton, Aberdeenshire (Voice); Lucie Hendry, Aberdeenshire (Lever Harp); Bradley Parker, County Down (Bagpipes) and Graham Rorie, Orkney (Fiddle).
The expected participants of TYTT 2020 are: Winner of the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year – Ali Levack – Maryburgh (Whistle); and finalists: Mhairi Catherine Mackinnon, Perth (Fiddle); Josie Duncan, Isle of Lewis (Voice); Cameron Nixon, Peterculter (Voice); Calum McIlroy, Aberdeenshire (Voice) and Padruig Morrison, Uist (Accordion).
The 2019 group was comprised of Benedict Morris (fiddle), winner of the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year Competition, joined by finalists: Cameron Ross (fiddle), Catherine Tinney (song), Luc McNally (guitar/vocals), Ross Miller (bagpipes), Sarah Markey (flute) and Hannah Rarity (song—2018 winner).
The group recorded a CD in March 2020 – now available in the TMSA shop and streaming services. Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 crisis this group were not able to complete a Tour – though an online performance was filmed in September 2020 under the guidance current at the time and is available on the TMSA Facebook & YouTube channels.
